Looking for a person or couple to take over half the lease for my current roommate who has to leave on short notice. I'm expecting the room to be free within a week or two and would like to have it filled before March, but I can make arrangements to hold
it for you if needed (just pay the housing deposit).
The apartment is 1050 square feet, 2br/2ba (both with bathtubs). Second story in a small complex on north Austin St about 2 blocks from TWU. Covered private parking. Nice open design with big living room, kitchen, and dining room. I have basic kitchen supplies including cups and bowls, a bread machine, and a hand mixer. I'll probably buy a blender if whoever moves in doesn't have one. I also have a couch, a table, a little shelving. I don't have a cable TV subscription or a TV -- if you want them feel free to provide them, but I'm happy just watching whatever I want on my laptop.
Your half of rent will be 400/month all bills paid (including gas, water, electric, and 30Mbps fast internet with wifi). If you're a couple it'll be 250/mo for each of you, but you'll get the nice big master bedroom with a private bathroom and shower/tub. Housing deposit equal to one month's rent.
About me: I'm 29, male, have degrees in English and philosophy, and teach martial arts while looking for a grad school program I like and saving money for it (all the classes are in good fun, no paranoid psychos lol). Most of my friends are in grad school for various social sciences, and we tend to organize get-togethers at least once a week for dinner and board games (Settlers of Catan and D&D are popular right now).
I'm a liberal progressive, atheist (think Sam Harris, not Richard Dawkins -- in other words, don't force your religion on me and we'll get along fine), and enjoy academic debate, science, philosophy, and occasionally some goofy movies. I'm a pretty big fan of South Park, Colbert, Man vs Wild, and such like that. Questions? Just ask. I'd like my new roomie(s) to be friends rather than just people sharing the space, so personal compatibility will be important.
I don't do any drugs, don't smoke, and have an average of maybe 2-4 beers a month. I have no pets, but I like critters of all kinds. You're welcome to bring anything that won't damage the apartment, make lots of noise and get me in trouble with the neighbors, or be aggressive toward my friends (or their kids -- a couple do have young ones). I'm very accepting of other peoples' beliefs and lifestyles as long as they aren't bigoted or harmful/cruel to others.
About you: couples are great because it'll make rent cheaper for all of us, because I'm social and I like having people around, and because it tends to add an element of stability. Single people are welcome too, of course. I shouldn't need to say this, but LGBT people are welcome too.
You must be gainfully employed with a stable job, have zero substance abuse issues, have good rental history to get on the lease, be sociable but not wanting to have noisy fraternity-style parties or blast loud music at 2am, low drama, and not antisocial/xenophobic/otherwise intolerant or unpleasant to be around.
Ideally you're friendly, academic (if you're in grad school that's awesome!), enjoy talking science and philosophy and politics and music and other topics of the day, and possibly interested in sharing cooking duties with me and/or buying groceries/doing dishes in exchange for me making a steady supply of good food.

I'm at work 1-9 Mon-Thurs and 9-2 on Saturday but am pretty free aside from that and happy to meet before or after work. I have a very nice room coming available in my spacious, unique, practical, stylish and fun vintage wood home. It's located in the Junius Heights historic district of Lakewood in Dallas, near White Rock Lake, Downtown, Uptown, Deep Ellum, Knox/Henderson,
Greenville Ave, SMU, The Hospitals, and pretty much anywhere you'd like to be close to in Dallas. We have U-Verse cable/WiFi. Laundry room, Gorgeous Spanish-Colonial Kitchen, vintage clawfoot tubs in the bathrooms, and all the space needed for people to spread out and enjoy the place.
Two responsible, young professionals (early to mid-30's, male/female, both in LTR's) are seeking the perfect fit to share my home. Above all, this involves tidiness, cleanliness, and respect for the house and your fellow housemates. You can trash your own room, so long as it doesn't produce any smells, BUT ALL COMMON AREAS MUST BE KEPT CLEAN. Seriously, if you're perfectly comfortable with an over-flowing trashcan, a sink full of unrinsed dishes, and crumbs and clutter all up in the kitchen and living room... If you like to use the living room as a second closet or sleeping quarters (occasional guests on the couch aren't a problem)... If you walk into a freshly cleaned area of the house and have no issue getting the mess started again immediately... then please do NOT respond.
Believe it or not, I'm not a clean-freak... I just like for the house to be presentable at all times, for any company that should choose to visit, or just for my/our own comfort/sanity. It's actually a great spot for entertaining. A couple of times per week, having a couple of people by is great. Any larger gatherings need to be discussed ahead of time, a courtesy I'll be happy to reciprocate. The bedrooms and the common spaces are on separate floors, so sleeping is easy, even when there's guests in the house... so long as respectful volume levels are maintained.
Anyway, I think I've ranted enough. I just want to live the dream, and progress my house and home toward a state of eutopian harmony, where everyone does what needs to be done for the greater good of the home, and everyone gets along. That sounds reasonable, doesn't it? If so the room is 10'x13', with a 2'x8' closet. The rent is $500/month, plus an = share of utilities. Deposit is $300, refundable after the last months utilities and any damages are deducted. If we take on a 4th roommate in the furnished guestroom, rent will drop, and the bill split will go down as well. Short-term leases are not a problem at all. In fact, I go month-to-month while we see if it's a good fit.
I have an 80lb mix of pure mutt named Sawyer and he has an awesome disposition. There is also a Lhasa Apso living here, and she's easy to get along with as well, once she gets to know you. If that's not enough, I sit my friend's 60lb mix when he's out of town. she's probably the sweetest of all. The backyard is kind of small too, so I'm really not interested in taking in any more pets.
Chances are, this either sounds incredible, or absolutely wrong for you. Please let me know if you believe that you are, in fact, the perfect fit.
Oh and btw, the tan couch in the pic is about 10ft long. The TV's 47in. The room shown is about 23'x13'

The extra bedroom currently has a queen size air mattress, a filing cabinet, tv and a 2 drawer dresser. All can stay in there, or all can come out. Bedroom aslo has a ceiling fan
