ALSO we are 1/2 way Between Commerce, GA & Anderson, SC ~ 30 mins either way!!! We are 7 miles to Hwy 77 at DAD'S Exit on I85. We are 15-20 mins to Grocery Stores in Either Lavonia OR Hartwell. The house was a small outdated cabin on the Lake and we have added on a lot of New sq. footage and are almost done renovating the old part which was the main part of the house. The ROOM for RENT is one of two Fully Furnished Guest Rooms on the opposite side of the house as the Master Bedroom. The Room for Rent is the Larger of the two with the entire back wall having 2 sets of French Double Doors all open up to a private Deck Looking out at the Lake. There is a King Size Bed (Brand New Matress) with a full size Dresser/Mirror, Armoire with TV inside and 2 night stands. There is a closet in there and like I mentioned an attached Large Bath. I'm 34, I own a Pet Sitting Business so I'm in and out of the home a lot. My husband is 43, works professionally in Outside Sales, so is in & out of the home a lot as well. We are Young at heart, Fun, Loving, Honest, Responsible, Dependable, People. We do Not smoke but we will drink ocasionally. We enjoy Movies, Music & time with our 2 Big Dogs. We have one room available for rent (lease goes until July 31st), as one of the couples living here is moving to a place of their own.
(I'd like to describe the house and the people situation, so if you're only interested in reading about the bedroom it
self, skip to the bottom!)
Our 3 BR house on Athens Avenue is quite modern, and was designed to be very efficient for utilities. For example, all the bedrooms have been occupied by couples for some time now, and with six people all using showers, toilets, the laundry machine and the dishwasher, the water bill still only comes to about $52, or less than $10/person.
By comparison, the last house I lived in was on Reese St., and even WITHOUT a dishwasher or laundry machine, we were still paying $45 between two people. Needless to say, 283 Athens Ave conserves water and power very well (the power bill is also below the average for Athens). One of the big selling points for me was the amount of natural light this house gets, as there are many large, modern-style windows (also of the energy-saving variety), which makes for a very warm and welcoming feel, especially in the large, open living room/kitchen area
The house is actually behind 281, so it's away from the street, which I have appreciated because I own a dog. Speaking of dogs/cats, pets are welcome. The neighbors (in front of our house, and next door) keep to themselves pretty much, but have always been quite friendly when I've interacted with them.
As for roommates, there are two couples staying (one couple is leaving), but PLEASE don't feel like singles aren't welcome. It just happened to work out that it was all couples in this sitcom-like set-up, but my girlfriend and I are very casual, as is the other couple that's staying. Whether you prefer to stick to the privacy of your own space (as I tend to), or you like mingling with roommates, I know we'll get along. We moved in not knowing any of our roommates, but everyone has been so friendly and accommodating that I wouldn't worry a bit about conflict.
THE AVAILABLE ROOM: My girlfriend and I are moving out of the available room, which is the only bedroom downstairs. This bedroom has one HUGE perk - a very nice private full bathroom, including a shower, and the rent is now no more than the other rooms (used to be slightly higher). While this bedroom is not an especially big space (maybe 13x13), having our own bathroom has made it well worth it. And even so, it's not a particularly small room by any stretch. We have a bookshelf, TV, desk, bed, night-stand, shelves, filing cabinet and doggie-bed (basically everything we could need) and we've been able to make do.
There is a medium-sized closet (again, slightly cramped between two people, but perfect for one person). Two large windows help make the space feel larger and brighter, and the sky-blue walls also add to this effect - although painting is allowed if you're not crazy about the color. This room is kind of separated from the living area via a small hallway, so it provides a decent sense of privacy when necessary.
So why are we moving out if this room works for us? Well, the room upstairs that the vacating couple have been in is a bit larger than the one we're currently in. My girlfriend and I share our room with my dog and our kitten, not to mention all of our stuff; needless to say, any room would be cramped with that kind of set-up. Therefore, we decided to give up the luxury of having our own private bathroom in order to have a little extra leg-room.
Again, this room would be plenty big for one person, and even for two people without pets (although the couple that lived in this room before us had TWO dogs in there with them, so anything is possible).
