We have one furnished room for one person. We are ---first and foremost---looking for a compatible, quiet, kind, friendly, personable, environmental and drug-free room mate for it for beg. of month! If that may describe you, please
read to end and let us know why. We are excited to have an amazingly beautiful natural area with 1-2 house mates who work hard and contribute positively to our home, community and world.
Hope for long term, but min. 6 mo. We do need refs, first, deposit. ( Please be able to pay first, last and also a deposit if you are short term...). Sorry we can't have any pets here. None.
There's nice open spaces for bikes and hikes. Walk to #16 frequent UCSC bus and downtown, or bike all over.
The one place for car is not available now, so any parking would be off-site, down the block with downtown permit. It's a town home, great open feel and nice views but garage/storage-challenged. You'd have a closet in your room for your stuff, though, as well as dressers/file cabinets/etc, available in there. Storage for big things like surfboards, massage tables etc. a challenge...so even though we love the waves, there is no place for a board indoors or really out securely. Bikes, yes. If we haven't scared you away, read on:

We are looking for one personable, considerate responsible person with a life and with modest space needs to share our 3BR/2BA lagoon-side home in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood, ideally located between beach, downtown, and UCSC. Walkers, bike commuters and cyclists warmly welcomed! We have occasional mild allergies, so request no perfume/fragrances. No smoking or smokers. We also leave shoes outside to maximize our lung capacity and minimize that dusting. Discounts possible for help with gardening, music or languages or something you might like to suggest-we are open to some basic possibilities. Basically, we seek a good person with whom to share our lives, at least for this while.
Like many downtown adjacent areas: No car parking available here or within a block or two! So, if you have a car, this is probably not the place for you unless you are ok w buying a downtown permit and parking your car on near Laurel and have some extraordinary reason for wanting a car.
Furnished room : airy, clean! Warm cozy and looks out to a wider outdoors with a great open feel. You may decorate room to suit your taste. Room for your clothes, and shelves and bookcases/desks available if needed. Current furnishings include a single bed, a desk, chair, small dresser and a bookcase, and several other items tba as you do or do not need them. Not room to add new big stuff. For someone who lives lightly Thus said: This can also be rearranged/decorated/painted/etc. to fit your tastes.
Use of the shared living space, kitchen, dining room. Kitchen is clean, and we're interested in a considerate house mate who will give a hand to help as needed, and wash their own hands before rummaging around in our shared fridge. Please let us know about any prior experience you may have with house sharing/kitchen sharing or we will assume you don't have it and give preference to those who do. We are not uptight, just clean.
The rented room shares a full bath, and there is a half bath also. This is for one person only! There are 2 bathrooms, shared. This has worked for us well in the past, as the two of us have different schedules. We clean and sanitary, so seek a grown up of any age who shares this concern. This said, we are very busy with both grad school and work, so we do get paper clutter and organizational challenges beg and end of school years, especially. We are not neat niks but if you'd like to be in your own room and your half of the bath, your part of the fridge, kitchen, patio, more power to you! We try to meet mutual needs. We are relaxed and casual, but sanitary. Friendly agreements as to what we'd all like, the procedures in our ideal weeks and days are how we try to live. We get busy so understand about a dish soaking, little things that don't smell. Again we are clean, so we have no interest in trying to 'train' anyone in basic techniques of taking out their smelly food compost, pitching in as able a member of the household, washing hands after bathroom, trash or before meals.
The big advantage of the location is that it is so beautiful right outside the door. Please tell us why you would appreciate this. If you are a kind of person who spends most of your time on a computer or in front of tv, this may not be the place. If you are a nature lover, this is a dream come true. Also, the outside gardens/maintenance is very-well maintained and we don't need to work on this other than paying rent that goes into the upkeep. So if you're busy, this is a good set up--just be ok w a broom or mop once in a while or be able to pitch in for a cleaner together if you are not.
You'll be sharing the house with 2 (once in a while 3) graduate student/educator/literary/techie types ages 21 and up and up. There are sometimes 3 of us but when we are all here at the same time it's either for a planned dinner or coffee or doing our own thing indoors and out. We enjoy the outdoors, vegetarian cooking, a variety of music. We are readers and writers not television watchers. We have some international language skills and enjoy trying to expand our repertoire. Discounts in rent could be arranged if you are a native speaker of it (let us know details if this is an interest) or would like to help us with an organic container garden or something like this. One of us has taught English as a second language, and we are both happy to help an English language learner practice, and show you around town if you are new and don't have a car. We are from various states and countries, various ages, stable but we try to have fun in low-key ways. Neighbors very diverse-just safe and quiet! All ages and types of people warmly welcomed if responsible and interested in working together as needed to meet mutual needs. Our home is safe and secure. We seek someone who would enjoy sharing our home and be happy here. GLBTQ friendly.
We appreciate your help with routine cleaning as we need to, minor house responsibilities like taking the trash and recycling and compost to their respective places in the complex. We can also get a house cleaner to help if we all get busy. But we aren't rich, so we do our cleaning as best we can. There is no one who is the live-in 'maid' here so we all need to help out a little, in one way or another.
We try try hard to be ecological but we'd love to try harder. This has been a good fit for a serious student who likes a reasonably quiet home and working environment.
NO drugs, smokers, daily or heavy drinkers. We are not allowed pets. We enjoy an occasional beer or wine, coffee, tea, and even worse like junk food now and then. But no smoking of anything.
We are just fantastically located a few steps from the lagoon and bird sanctuary. There's a green back yard, deck, patio and adjacent trail. We are about 5 minutes walk through the lagoon to Main beach, and perhaps 3 minutes walk to the frequent #16 bus line to UCSC. Another few minutes walk down will bring you into downtown.
We compost food trimmings rather than use the disposal. We cook veggie, vegan, and one of us eats fish. But we do not store meat in the home, in the fridge or eat it in the house.
The neighbors are friendly and considerate and we are looking for a person that will fit in unobtrusively (=quietly!) in the community. Walks around this nature sanctuary and to beach are great fun, but no loud music or parties or lots of people in and out. That said, we have hosted slide shows of our trips abroad, attended neighbors' shows of same, and gathered happily for potlucks and walks to beach with friends here. We invite people over, and coordinate in advance. Your friends and family are welcomed, but your soul mate/bf/gf needs to have his/her own place to stay unless we agree in advance that we all live here and share.
Neighbors include students, young families with children, older families and retirees. This is an excellent environment for a serious student.

We have a great 4BR house on Umbria Street, about 100 yards from the Ivy Ridge train station (R6). (This is a great location for anyone commuting to Temple or CC) There are currently four guys in the house, but one of the guys is leaving in February. We
are looking for a guy to replace him. The remaining roommates are all relatively recent college grads. One works in the oncology department at U Penn; one works in a science lab in Wayne; and the third guy works at the airport.
The house is great. The downstairs has hard wood floors and is fully furnished. The living room has two leather sofas, coffee and end tables, lamps, carpet, and a 46" flatscreen tv. The dining room has a large table and six chairs. The kitchen is brand new with all new appliances. It has a table and four chairs. There is a new washer and dryer in the basement. There is a covered patio for grilling and a small private backyard. There are window A/C units in the downstairs and in the bedrooms.
The bedroom that is available is fully furnished with a new twin bed, desk, chair and dresser. There is also a small in closet in the room.. The room is not real big, but it's more than adequate for a student or someone with not a lot of stuff; that's why the price is only $475. Everyone else in the house pays much more in rent. Utilities in the house will be split four ways. The room will be available anytime after Feb 17.
We are looking for either a student or young professional guy to share the house. No one in the house smokes, so smoking will not be permitted. Also, we are not looking for anyone with pets. We are pretty easy-going guys, looking for the same. We generally work and keep it lower key during the week, and then have fun on the weekends. Send a response with some basic information about yourself if you are interested. Also let us know when you are able to come by and we can set a time for you to see the place. There's a Jewel close by, as well as Target, Aldi, Gym, coffee shop, 7 eleven, liquor store, Michaels pizzeria and the great Bar on Buena all within walking distance.
The roommates are cool, I dont see them often although when see them they are friendly and nice, we keep the place clean and are respectful of one another. I've lived here for 2 yrs the reason why I'm leaving is because I'm moving in with my best friend, and going to be closer to work.
